“We cannot do early childhood education and not support and include parents, and the family unit” – POWER-PAC Parent Leader Supporting the development of our youngest and most vulnerable children inside the classroom goes hand in hand with supporting the family unit that these children live in. Partnering with families by fostering parent support, engagement and leadership increases a child’s probability for success. Come and learn more about COFI’s nationally renowned Family Focused Organizing Model which has been empowering parents of color in Chicago for 24 years. Through a series of workshops and post-workshop organizing supports, our model creates a space where parents can recognize their power, and learn empowering tools for reflection, planning, goal-setting and self-care. Through this journey, parents build relationships and work together to create positive changes within themselves, their family, and their community. COFI regularly partners with early education programs to support parent engagement and leadership efforts across the country. Stop by and participate in interactive activities from our leadership model and hear directly from our parent leaders on their leadership experiences.
